As I have been meeting residents in the parts of Denbighshire that fall within the new Bangor Aberconwy constituency, a common concern has emerged. The arrangements for emptying bins.
The new system has not worked. In residential areas, rubbish has been piling up on streets - and in rural areas residents have now waited five weeks (sometimes six!) since their last collection.

The introduction of the 'trolley box' scheme - similar to schemes working in Gwynedd and Conwy - has not gone well.
Action needs to be taken. As the Conservative candidate for Bangor Aberconwy I will take these concerns to the council immediately and seek three things:
1. Immediate relief of the problem - before it gets any worse and becomes a full blown public health hazard.
2. An independent, external inquiry to establish how this situation arose: who has been overseeing the events of the last few weeks, what extra costs have been incurred, what advice was sought from Conwy and Gwynedd councils before the implementation etc.
3. An assurance that this problem is being addressed and a plan is in place to ensure council tax payers will receive a sustainable long term bin collection service.
